Delhi Municipal Corporation: Voting was held for 250 wards of Delhi MCD on December 4, whose election results will come on December 7 i.e. today. Earlier, in the exit polls that came on Monday evening, Aam Aadmi Party has been shown as the king of the corporation. After forming the government in Delhi and Punjab, party chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal seems to be getting great success.

But, do you know that there were not always 250 wards in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, but their number was 272. In the previous (2017 elections) MCD also, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi was divided into three parts and divided into 272 wards. But, in the new delimitation, the number of wards was reduced from 272 to 250.

In the 2017 MCD elections, the BJP won 181 seats (36.8 percent vote share), the Aam Aadmi Party 49 (26.23 percent vote share) and the Congress 31 seats and 21.09 percent vote share.

On the other hand, in North Delhi, the BJP had tightened its grip on 64 wards, while the Aam Aadmi Party got 21 wards. Whereas Congress got victory in 16 wards. Similarly, in South Delhi, BJP won 70 wards, Aam Aadmi Party 16 and Congress 12. BJP won in 47 wards of East Delhi, AAP won in 12 wards, Congress won in 3 wards. Till the 2017 elections, the old MCD was divided into three parts. Which included Southern Municipal Corporation, Eastern Municipal Corporation and Northern Municipal Corporation.

Actually, even before 2011, there was only one MCD, which was changed by the then CM Sheila Dixit and divided into three parts. He believed that Delhi is very big, so instead of being one, if it is divided into three parts, there will be a better arrangement.

What do the exit polls of Delhi MCD say?
Aaj Tak-Axis My India has shown Aam Aadmi Party winning 149 to 171 seats in Delhi Municipal Corporation elections. Whereas, BJP has been given 69 to 91 seats and Congress only 3 to 7 seats. Apart from this, according to the exit poll of Times Now-ETG, Aam Aadmi Party is getting 146 to 156 seats, BJP 84 to 94 and Congress is getting 6 to 10 seats.
